Tooth-saving endodontic assessment in West Delhi
Root canal treatment removes inflamed or infected tissue from inside a tooth, cleans the canal system and seals it so the tooth can remain in use. At Dr. Kathuria’s Dental Specialties, Dr. Eisha Kathuria assesses restorability and coordinates endodontic care when indicated.
Pain alone does not confirm the need for treatment. Symptoms, clinical tests, radiographs and the amount of remaining tooth structure guide the diagnosis.
Same-day consultations may be available; call to confirm. Monday–Saturday, 9:30 am–8:00 pm.

01 · Quick answer
Treatment may be recommended when the dental pulp is irreversibly inflamed or infected and the tooth can be predictably restored. The canals are cleaned, disinfected and filled before the tooth receives a suitable final restoration.
In brief: diagnosis and suitability require individual examination.
02 · Overview
The dental pulp contains nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. Deep decay, cracks, trauma or repeated procedures can damage it.
Treatment addresses disease inside the tooth. It does not rebuild missing outer tooth structure, so a separate restoration may be required.
03 · Suitability
Assessment is appropriate for persistent toothache, lingering temperature sensitivity, pain on biting, deep decay, trauma or changes around a root tip.
Clinical note: this list supports discussion; it does not diagnose suitability.
04 · Compare choices
A reversible condition may need decay removal, a filling or monitoring. A non-restorable tooth may require extraction followed by a discussion of replacement options.
Second opinion
A second opinion can review diagnosis, alternatives, expected maintenance and the proposed restorative sequence.
05 · Treatment designs
The sequence depends on anatomy, infection, previous treatment and whether specialist endodontic input is required.
Initial treatment of an untreated canal system.
Reassessment of a tooth with previous root filling.
Complex anatomy or complications may need an endodontist.
06 · Consultation
Bring medicine details, relevant dental records and a clear account of symptoms or previous treatment.
Review symptoms, health and priorities.
Assess teeth, gums and bite.
Use imaging when clinically indicated.
Compare benefits, limits and alternatives.
Agree sequence and maintenance.
07 · Process
Clinical tests and imaging guide diagnosis. A rubber dam isolates the tooth during treatment.
Instruments and irrigants clean the accessible canal system.
Prepared canals are sealed with a root-filling material.
The access is restored and the tooth is reviewed for function and healing.
08 · Aftercare
Tenderness can occur after treatment. Protect the tooth until the final restoration is complete.
Use the tooth carefully and follow prescribed instructions.
Keep any temporary restoration clean and intact.
Complete the filling or crown within the advised interval.
Healing and function may require clinical or radiographic review.
Contact the clinic promptly for worsening swelling, persistent bleeding, fever, spreading pain, altered sensation or a loose restoration. Seek urgent medical care for breathing or swallowing difficulty.
09 · Informed consent
Complex anatomy and existing damage affect predictability.
10 · Planning
Long-term survival depends on both canal treatment and the quality of the final restoration. Back teeth often need cuspal protection when substantial structure is missing.
Bite forces, cracks, gum levels and ferrule influence whether a filling, onlay or crown is appropriate.
11 · Clinical approach
Symptoms are matched with clinical tests and imaging.
Rubber dam isolation supports clean treatment.
The final seal and structural protection are considered from the start.
Complex cases are directed for specialist input.

14 · Common questions
No. Tooth pain has several causes. Clinical tests and imaging help identify whether the pulp is reversibly irritated, irreversibly inflamed, infected or healthy.
Local anaesthesia is used. Some tenderness can occur afterwards, particularly when inflammation was present before treatment.
The number varies with the tooth, infection, anatomy, symptoms and whether further procedures are required.
Not always. The restoration depends on tooth position and remaining structure. Many heavily restored back teeth benefit from cuspal protection.
Yes. Leakage, complex anatomy, new decay, cracks or restoration failure can lead to persistent or recurrent disease.
Extraction and replacement choices can be discussed after diagnosis.
