An assessment may help when
- A tooth is deeply impacted or difficult to access
- Imaging shows proximity to a nerve or sinus
- A jaw swelling, cyst or unusual lesion needs assessment
- Surgery must coordinate with an implant or restorative plan
Oral surgery assessment and coordinated care in West Delhi
An oral and maxillofacial surgeon manages surgical conditions involving the mouth, teeth, jaws and facial structures. Care may include complex extractions, impacted teeth, jaw pathology, trauma and selected implant procedures.
At Dr. Kathuria’s Dental Specialties, Dr. Eisha Kathuria provides the initial dental and restorative assessment and coordinates surgical input when the diagnosis or complexity requires it. Dr. Eisha is a prosthodontist, not an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Same-day consultations may be available; call to confirm. Monday–Saturday, 9:30 am–8:00 pm.

01 · Quick answer
A surgical consultation is appropriate when an extraction, impacted tooth, jaw condition or implant site needs specialist assessment. The surgeon’s role, facility requirements and restorative plan should be clear before treatment.
In brief: diagnosis and suitability require individual examination.
02 · Overview
The specialty combines dental and surgical training for diseases, injuries and defects of the mouth, jaws and related facial structures. Scope varies by clinician, diagnosis and treatment setting.
Not every wisdom tooth, extraction or implant requires specialist surgery. Complexity, proximity to nerves or sinuses, medical history, pathology and anticipated reconstruction guide referral.
03 · Assessment
Symptoms and needs can overlap with other dental conditions. A focused assessment helps define the correct pathway.
Clinical note: this list supports discussion; it does not establish a diagnosis.
04 · Compare choices
A routine extraction may be completed when access and anatomy are straightforward. Surgical removal can require a flap, bone removal or tooth sectioning. Specialist referral is considered when risk or complexity exceeds the appropriate setting.
Second opinion
Bring available records and questions so the diagnosis, alternatives, sequence and maintenance needs can be reviewed.
05 · Care pathways
The appropriate pathway follows the diagnosis, clinical complexity and condition of the supporting tissues.
Plan impacted, broken or anatomically difficult teeth.
Assess cysts, lesions, swelling or bony changes.
Coordinate site development or placement with the restorative goal.
06 · Consultation
Bring medicine details, relevant dental records and a clear account of symptoms or previous treatment.
Review symptoms, health and priorities.
Assess teeth, gums, bite and relevant tissues.
Use imaging or scans when clinically indicated.
Compare benefits, limits and alternatives.
Agree sequence and maintenance.
07 · Process
Review symptoms, previous treatment and urgency.
Examine the mouth, tooth position and supporting tissues.
Use panoramic or three-dimensional imaging only when justified.
Define the surgical provider, setting, restoration and follow-up.
08 · Aftercare
Follow the instructions provided for the specific diagnosis and procedure. Recovery and maintenance needs differ by patient.
Follow pressure and wound-care instructions.
Use the advised measures and medicines only as directed.
Protect the site while maintaining safe oral hygiene.
Report worsening swelling, fever or uncontrolled bleeding.
Contact the clinic promptly for worsening swelling, persistent bleeding, fever, spreading pain, altered sensation or a loose restoration. Seek urgent medical care for breathing or swallowing difficulty.
09 · Informed care
Benefits, limitations and alternatives depend on the diagnosis and chosen care.
10 · Planning
Removing a tooth is sometimes only the first step. Future replacement, bone preservation, implant position and the condition of neighbouring teeth can change the surgical approach.
Dr. Eisha’s prosthodontic role helps ensure that surgery is coordinated with the intended crown, bridge, denture or implant restoration.
11 · Clinical approach
Anatomy and medical factors shape the referral decision.
Records are selected for a defined clinical question.
Patients know who performs surgery and follow-up.
The final functional goal informs surgical planning.

12 · Your dentist
Dr. Eisha Kathuria is a prosthodontist. She assesses restorability, tooth-replacement options and the restorative outcome, then coordinates oral and maxillofacial surgical care when specialist input is indicated.

14 · Common questions
No. The decision depends on symptoms, disease, position, anatomy and procedural complexity. Some teeth can be monitored or managed in routine dental care.
It may be useful when conventional imaging cannot answer a specific question about roots, nerves, sinuses or surgical anatomy. It is not required for every case.
Antibiotics may be indicated for selected spreading infections, but they do not remove a diseased tooth, drain every infection or treat underlying pathology.
It may involve opening the gum, removing a small amount of bone or sectioning the tooth to remove it safely.
The pattern varies by procedure and patient. Follow the provided instructions and contact the clinic if swelling worsens unexpectedly or affects swallowing or breathing.
The replacement choice can affect bone preservation, timing, implant positioning and the design of temporary or final restorations.
