Fixed missing-tooth replacement in West Delhi
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with a fixed restoration supported by teeth or implants. At Dr. Kathuria’s Dental Specialties, Dr. Eisha Kathuria compares support, cleaning access, bite and alternatives before recommending a design.
A bridge is one option for a gap. Implant restorations, removable dentures or no immediate replacement may also be appropriate after individual assessment.
Same-day consultations may be available; call to confirm. Monday–Saturday, 9:30 am–8:00 pm.

01 · Quick answer
A conventional bridge commonly uses crowns on teeth beside a gap to support a replacement tooth. Other designs use a single-sided support, bonded retainers or implants. The supporting structures must be suitable for the planned load.
In brief: diagnosis and suitability require individual examination.
02 · Overview
The replacement tooth is connected to retainers on selected supports. The design depends on gap length, support quality, bite, appearance and cleaning access.
Preparing sound neighbouring teeth is a major consideration. Implant-supported and removable alternatives may preserve them but have different requirements.
03 · Suitability
A bridge may suit a defined gap when the proposed supports are healthy, maintainable and able to carry the expected forces.
Clinical note: this list supports discussion; it does not diagnose suitability.
04 · Compare choices
An implant crown may avoid preparing adjacent teeth but requires surgery and suitable bone. A removable partial denture can replace several teeth with a different maintenance profile.
Second opinion
A second opinion can review diagnosis, alternatives, expected maintenance and the proposed restorative sequence.
05 · Treatment designs
Support and retention determine the design. Each option has specific indications and limits.
Crowns or retainers on teeth beside the gap.
A conservative wing-retained design for selected spaces.
Implants support a fixed restoration without using adjacent teeth.
06 · Consultation
Bring medicine details, relevant dental records and a clear account of symptoms or previous treatment.
Review symptoms, health and priorities.
Assess teeth, gums and bite.
Use imaging when clinically indicated.
Compare benefits, limits and alternatives.
Agree sequence and maintenance.
07 · Process
Teeth, gums, bone, bite and space are examined.
The design is selected and supporting teeth are prepared when required.
A scan or impression is made and temporary protection may be provided.
The bridge is checked, fitted and followed with cleaning instruction.
08 · Aftercare
Adaptation depends on the design and extent. Cleaning beneath the replacement tooth is essential.
Follow advice for numbness, temporary restorations and diet.
Speech and chewing may take time to feel natural.
Use floss threaders, interdental brushes or advised aids.
Margins, supports, bite and tissues need continuing assessment.
Contact the clinic promptly for worsening swelling, persistent bleeding, fever, spreading pain, altered sensation or a loose restoration. Seek urgent medical care for breathing or swallowing difficulty.
09 · Informed consent
The bridge and its supports remain vulnerable to biological and mechanical complications.
10 · Planning
Longer spans and heavier bite forces increase mechanical demands. Each support tooth is assessed for structure, root support, alignment and existing restorations.
The replacement tooth contour should balance appearance, cleansability and tissue health.
11 · Clinical approach
Implant and removable options remain part of consent.
The bridge is not planned independently of its supports.
Pontic contours and aids are discussed.
Future maintenance and retrievability are explained.

14 · Common questions
A conventional bridge requires preparation of support teeth. Whether that trade-off is reasonable depends on their condition and the available alternatives.
Floss threaders, interdental brushes, water irrigation or other aids may be recommended according to the bridge contour and embrasures.
Neither is universally better. Surgery, adjacent teeth, bone, span, timing, cleaning and maintenance affect the decision.
Sometimes, but longer spans increase mechanical demands. Support and bite must be assessed carefully.
Yes. Cement loss, decay, support failure or mechanical loading can loosen a bridge.
The bridge may need removal, repair or replacement, and the whole gap must be reassessed.
